I am an assistant professor at Department of Computer Science, Georgia State University (GSU). I received my B.Sc. degree in Computer Engineering from Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey), and my M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from GSU, in 2016 and 2017, respectively. Before joining the faculty, I served as a postdoctoral research associate and later as a research assistant professor at GSU. My research lies at the intersection of data science, data management, computer vision, and high performance computing, with a strong emphasis on spatial and temporal big data analytics. I focus on building scientific knowledge discovery systems by applying and advancing techniques from data science and engineering. A major theme of my work is solar astroinformatics. Through multi-institutional collaborations, we design and implement large-scale, explainable forecasting systems for solar transient events. Overarching goal of my research is to enhance predictive capabilities for space weather events while providing interpretable outputs that support scientific understanding.
